Network Interfaces Manager

Laravel Network Interfaces Manager Application for Ubuntu Linux

Description

The idea of this application is creating a web based application to read and write the network interfaces in Linux systems.

System Requirements

  • Ubuntu 16.06
  • PHP 7.1.3
  • MySQL
  • Nginx

Installation

Copy the .env.example to .env

Install Network Manager for ubuntu

sudo apt-get install network-manager

By default, NetworkManager does not manage interfaces that appear in /etc/network/interfaces.d/*, we need to change this in order to make it work by editing the file:

sudo nano /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf

And change the line managed to true

managed=true

Restart Network Manager:

sudo service network-manager restart

Execute the following commands to give permissions to www-data user.

sudo chown www-data:www-data /etc/network/interfaces.d
sudo chown www-data:www-data /sbin/ifconfig

Add the following lines to the /etc/sudoers file. (use visudo)

www-data ALL=(root) NOPASSWD: /sbin/ifconfig
www-data ALL=(root) NOPASSWD: /bin/ip
www-data ALL=(root) NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/service networking restart

Self Update

Update the system automatically by installing envoyer

composer global require laravel/envoy

Uncomment the schedule task command

$schedule->command('envoy run deploy --branch=' . env('GIT_BRANCH'))->weekly();
